Hi all I'm new.

I have just had my english literature drama exam which I did on the book Journey's End.

The extract question was:

Explore the ways in which Sherriff makes this part of the play dramatic and revealing.

The section of text was the section where the men were having the special meal after the raid and starts just when they Trotter mentions it's a shame about Raleigh not coming down for the meal and ends where Stanhope tells Hibbert to go to bed and says something along the lines of "The little worm gets on my nerves".

Can anyone help me to put my conscience on what sorts of things I should have put?

The basic points I put were:
- dramatic because of the unexpected change in mood during the meal
- dramatic because of the sudden mood changes in Stanhope and when he unexpectedly loses his temper with Hibbert
- dramatic by Sherriff building up the pace with short sharp conversations that makes the unexpected things seem to happen more suddenly - which causes it to be more dramatic
- revealing by Sherriff making the men drink a lot of alcohol which then allows them to express their true feelings about one another
- revealing by showing how the raid has really shook Raleigh as he doesn't come down to the meal.
- revealing by showing how Hibbert hates being bossed around by Stanhope and is a bit immature
- revealing by showing how Stanhope is upset about losing Osborne - can't stand to talk about the raid.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Dan
